Grammy Predicts
Beyonce should not be surprised this Sunday when she takes home the Grammy for “Album of the Year”. Queen Bey shocked the world back in December 2013 by releasing a surprise self-titled album, as well music videos for each track. The album’s hit single, “Drunk in Love” featuring hubby Jay Z, is also nominated for “Best R&B Performance”.
Another big winner this year will be Meghan Trainor, whose "All About That Bass" swooped in for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year nods. Once the boom boom girl shook off Taylor Swift's hit from the top of the charts, Trainor incorporating Taylor’s anthem in her concert line up. Now, Trainor will try to trump Taylor in the Grammy’s two biggest categories.
Soulful British crooner, Sam Smith, is predicted to be the man of the hour. Out of his six Grammy nominations, Smith should expect to take home at least two for “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year.” His smash ballad, “Stay with Me,” dominated the radio over the past year, and it led to Smith scoring a #1 album. Smith is also up for “Best New Artist,” but he is not the clear-cut favorite with Haim and Iggy Azalea as competitors.
Speaking of Iggy, the controversial artist goes up against Childish Gambino (“Because the Internet), Schoolboy Q (“Oxymoron), Common (“Nobody’s Smiling”), Eminem (“Marshal Mathers LP 2), and Wiz Khalifa (“Blacc Hollywood”) for “Best Rap Album.” She is projected as the favorite in this category, but it would be great to see either Gambino or Q take home the Grammy.
