River's Crown Jewel on Market

Joan Rivers’ Crown Jewel Up For Sale For A Mere 28 Milion
After proving that she is one of the top icons in entertainment after winning a posthumous Grammy, Joan Rivers’ extravagant New York penthouse is up for sale for just a mere $28 million. It has been on and off the market since 2009 according to Today.com, even though her daughter Melissa, who inherited the $150 million manor, put this apartment up for sale Monday.  This magnificent home full of history and art is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on East 62nd Street off Fifth Ave.

In 2010, Joan Rivers described her garnished 5,100 square foot crown jewel as where “Marie Antoinette would have lived if she had money.” This apartment is built in a limestone mansion once owned by Gilded Age millionaires Alice and John S. Drexel. The four bedroom and four ½  bathroom building includes fancy features such as a private elevator, a luxurious ballroom neighboring a  music room with 23-foot ceilings, wood paneled library, a salon and five antique fireplaces.  As all this may be extravagant, it doesn’t compare to the view that it gives when one can see the Manhattan Skyline and Central Park.

Joan Rivers would throw many parties entertaining famous guest such as Nancy Reagan, Martha Stewart, Steve Forbes, Howard Stern, Regis Philbin, Cal Ripken and many more. So as a tribute, her daughter Melissa threw one last party after her funeral at this glamorous estate in memory of her mother.
