Raven Symoné sides with Univisions Anchor’s First Lady comments: "Some People Do Look Like Animals"

The Cosby Show star and new addition to Empire, Raven Symoné, defends Univision host Rodner Figueroa, who was fired by the network last week for comparing First Lady Michelle Obama to an ape.

Figueroa said that Michelle Obama looked like she was in the cast of “Planet of the Apes” during a make-up segment on “El Gordo Y la Flaca.”

In a guest appearance on “The View", Raven Symoné defended the host and shared that she wasn't under the impression that Figueroa intended to make a racist comment saying,

“Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people do look like animals. Is that rude? So can I be mad if someone called me Toucan Sam?” Symoné said.

Maybe just a tad. The 29-year-old is no stranger to controversial statements. In fact, during a sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, the actress generated tons of backlash when she revealed that she does not identify herself with cultural labels such as “gay” or “African-American.”

Symoné is standing by her comments. The "That's So Raven" star took to Twitter to respond to the negative feedback:
