Charleston Shooting Updates: Shooter To Start Race War







Suspected shooter, Dylann Roof is named the Charleston Church mass murderer. The 21-year-old has now confessed that he wanted to start a race war; charged with 9 counts of murder appeared in court on Friday to face charges.


He sat amongst the congregation before committing this heinous act of violence. One witness Sylvia Johnson spoke of one man's pleas for mercy and how they went unheard as Roof stated, "No, you've raped our women, and you are taking over the country ... I have to do what I have to do."


Photos of Roof were released by the police and leads were followed in order to bring him to justice. President Obama made a statement that this type of crime is a tragedy and it is heartbreaking for such a thing to happen in a place where solace and peace is sought.


Mid morning a female driver on her way to work recognized the shooters car 250 miles west of Charleston west on Nixon Boulevard. She noticed that the plates were similar to those of what she saw on television, she called her husband, and he then notified the police. Roof was arrested and taken into custody.


The National President of the NAACP Cornell Brooks has stated that the killings are a form of "racial terrorism." Vigils and memorials are being held around the country in honor of those killed at Emanuel AME. Those that were the closest to the victims have made comments inluding Felicia Sanders, mother of the youngest victim Tywanza Sanders. She said that "Tywanza Sanders was my son, but Tywanza was my hero."
