DNA evidence found belongs to prison escapees
It
has been confirmed that DNA found belonged to that of the two fugitives, David Sweat and Richard Matt of
the Clinton Correctional Maximum prison unit in Franklin County, New York.
This
discovery has given the state police incentive to continue their search for
these dangerous men. Authorities are asking the public to take precautions including
staying alert and being vigilant. Along with those precautions, authorities ask
that the public record anything that is out of place or out of the ordinary and
call 911 immediately; no lead is too small to investigate.
Law enforcement will have a
strong visible presence in the area as long as the search continues. The search
is a complex one due to the terrains, the vast scope of the North Country and
weather conditions.
