Keeping up with Kimye's Konception

The psychic was right—Kim Kardashian is pregnant with her second child. A teaser that aired last night after the mid-season finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians let the cat (or should we say baby?) out of the bag.

Amongst other issues, this season chronicles Kim's struggles with fertility. The 34 year-old reportedly tried IVF amongst other methods to get the oven-cooking. Speaking of ovens, the celebrity couple also opened up about their sex-lives: “We are trying. We try every single day. You can't try harder than we try,” Kim said. Thanks for the visual, Kimye.
But perhaps it was one of the most unconventional methods that proved most beneficial for this Kardashian—visiting a psychic. Psychic and friend, John Edward, advised her to “...visualize walking with a child. Just know that it's going to happen and just allow it to happen.” Maybe in his next prediction, he'll visualize Kim naming the baby South West.

Despite Kim's success, her struggles reveal what women everywhere know about getting pregnant—it can be really hard. Kim Kardashian, Halle Berry, and Nicole Kidman are just a few celebrities who have had difficulty conceiving, but it's not just them. Doctors say that by the time a woman reaches Kim's age, the chances of having a child decrease with the limited number of eggs available. This past February, Dr. Eve Feinberg told Yahoo! Parenting that a patient said, “Halle Berry had a baby at 47—why can’t I?” But the doctor claims that Halle Berry was an exception and, “The odds of conceiving naturally at age 47 are less than one in 1,000.”

So why the taboo? Often, women do not like revealing their struggles with conception, perhaps to the point where many don't realize just how hard it is to do it at that age. Plus, these celebs that beat the system have access to and can afford all available methods on the market, which usually makes them more successful than their non-famous counterparts.

Kim Kardashian's brave choice to go public about her experience might be a help to women everywhere. And if it doesn't work out, they can go see John Edward.
