ShaqBucks Fail

Four-time champion and basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is known for his business ventures on and off the court. The “Big Aristotle” is making millions in endorsement deals, nightclubs, fast food and as a sports journalist for Sports Center. With all his success some would think he would want a part in the coffee industry.

Shaq-diesel may have missed his opportunity, which he now considers as one of the biggest financial mistake of his life. During the segment “In Depth with Graham Bensinger” the retired champ talked about how he declined work with Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schultz.

“So my agent called me up and he says ‘Howard Schultz wants to do business with you,’” Shaq explains. “And I’m like “coffee, eh,” because growing up, in my household, I’d never seen a black person drink coffee.’ So it was my thought process that black people didn’t drink coffee.”

Although Shaq and Howard are still good friends, that’s a shot the Champ wished he had made.
