Snoop Dogg may have spent his Memorial Day kicked back watching TV, but he was not watching ‘Roots’. The rap legend took to Instagram his disapproval of the LeVar Burton produced miniseries remake, and is adamant about not watching films anymore that depict black people "getting dogged out.”

In a message to his fans on social media, Snoop did not hold back at all. “How the [f–k] they gonna put Roots on Memorial Day? They gonna just keep beating that [s–t] in our heads of how they did us, huh?” he said in a video post. “I don’t understand America. They just want to keep showing the abuse that we took hundreds and hundreds of years ago. But, guess what? We taking the same abuse.” He continues his rant by mentioning the recent portrayals of blacks in film, including 12 Years a Slave, and WGN America’s highly acclaimed series, Underground.

According to The Root, Snoop asks when a series will be made about successful black people and suggests black people skip out on "Roots" and create a show about "how we live and how we inspire people today."  Fans are responding to Snoop's post both in agreement and disagreement. LeVar Burton even stepped in on social media and Snoop responded to the rapper’s opinion.

On the other hand…

Snoop Dogg currently stars in AOL’s new series ‘Coach Snoop’.
