Will Smith Sits out on the New Independence Day
Independence Day fans will be in for a surprise when they find out that main character Will Smith dropped the ball on the sequel.
Smith reportedly turned down working for the film in 2014. The director gives us a little insight on why Smith didn’t make the cut this time.
"Will Smith can not come back because he's too expensive, but he'd also be too much of a marquee name," Emmerich told The New York Daily News in 2013. "It would be too much."
A huge tease to put him in the first movie and never have him return. Was he only a prop to make the movie popular and now that it is, they're waving bye-bye?
