Sneakers Take Over NBA All-Star Weekend

Another NBA all-star weekend has come and gone and I think it’s safe to say Ballers and fans  had New Orleans very turnt up. Although basketball was the main event, the abundance of sneaker releases stole the weekend.

Popular sneaker brands like Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour have taken full advantage of the crowd that NBA All-Star weekend draws. Friday saw the release of a new version of the iconic Air Jordan 6 that features an iridescent upper. Nike sportswear also released 2 new colorways of the latest Special Forces Air Force 1; One with a desert camo upper, and the other with a gray leather upper. Under Armour and Golden State Warrior’s guard Stephen Curry came together to release a splashy colorway of the UA Curry 3 which pays homage to the vibrant Jazz music culture New Orleans is known for. The shoe features a mainly black body, with brass accents. That was just Friday.

Saturday saw what some consider some of the hottest releases of 2017. Adidas collaborated with two very well known sneaker boutiques on their newest colorway of the Ultra Boost model, Social Status in North Carolina, and Sneakersnstuff in Stockholm, Sweden. Jordan Brand released the highly anticipated Drake collaboration, the OVO x Air Jordan 12. Drake has had three hit collab sneakers with Jordan Brand in the past with black and white versions of the Jordan 10, and the white version of the Jordan 12. The 12’s seem to be the most coveted out of the 2 models. They’ve been seen on your favorite celebs including DJ Khaled and of course Drizzy himself.

Tons of other shoes released this weekend as well and had All-Star weekend booming. Next Year, The NBA will be taking the all-star festivities to LA. If the sneakers took over in New Orleans, the sneaker pandemonium in LA should be insane. Who’s ready for All-Star 2018?
