For once Chris Rock is not joking?
Chris Rock will use technology
to ban the use of mobile devices during his Total Blackout Australian Tour in
June. It is reported that audience members will be forced to lock their devices
in a Yondr pouch, which ceases technology use while an act is performing. These
Yondr pouches are nothing new to the US but Chris Rock is one of the first
major performers to bring the pouch down under. This is definitely not funny…
Understanding it is rude to be on your phone while someone
is speaking or performing. It becomes a bit much when you cut out the use of
technology completely. What if there is an emergency? What will the response be
then? Mr. Rock we understand that you want the audience’s undivided attention,
but by way of your performance you should be able to keep them engaged, everybody
is bound to hate Chris for ceasing technology use.
This show is guaranteed to be one of the top five most
lethal weapons to sit through without your phone handy. The shows will begin in
June at Perth Arena, Brisbane Entertainment Centre Arena in Melbourne and
Sydney’s Qudos Bank arena. Tickets go on sale March 24 midday on Ticketek.
