Inside Mel B and Stephen Belafonte's Twisted Divorce

Having spent half her life onstage, whether it was as apart of the Spice Girls or as a judge on The X Factor, Mel B has taken part in so many joyous moments—both her own and those belonging to the aspiring stars who craved approval from the British pop icon. Now it's hard not to wonder how many times over the past decade she was faking it for the cameras.

The singer, whose real name is Melanie Brown, filed for divorce on March 20 after nearly 10 years of marriage, but the proceedings took a ugly turn when on April 3, Brown obtained a restraining order against Stephen Belafonte. 

Court documents alleged claim that he had been physically and verbally abusive throughout their marriage, starting in 2007 on the night she appeared on the Dancing With the Stars finale with visible bruising. 

Brown attempted to leave him multiple times, she stated in the filing, "he threatened me with violence and threatened to destroy my life in every possible way... destroy my career and take my kids from me.”

One week after Mel B was granted a temporary restraining order against her estranged husband, the Spice Girls filed a TRO this morning against the couple's former nanny, Lorraine Gilles; we guess she was doing more than watering the patio flowers.

Mel claims that in addition to having an affair with Belafonte during their marriage and getting pregnant with his child, her ex child-care giver is now extorting the pop star.

Reports claim that Mel's lawyers got the court order so that they could be granted access to a storage locker rented by Lorraine, which contains a slew of very personal items that she doesn't want to get out, including sex tapes of the couple and photos that Stephen threatened to make public against the singer.

Also among the disturbing allegations: he got their nanny pregnant and used Mel's money to pay for an abortion, he demanded she have sex with him and "random women," after which he'd threaten to release tapes he made of the encounters if she ever crossed him, he kept a gun in their home, despite not being allowed to have one due to a prior domestic violence conviction.

It’s safe to say Mel B is definitely swimming in a pool of drama right now,

but we know our favorite spice girl will pull through. Girl power!
