Clever and Conscious, but Canceled: The Carmichael Show
After 3 hilarious and relevant seasons, The Carmichael
Show is signing off air after a tough renewal negotiation between NBC and Fox
TV. NBC released an official statement after creator and star of the show,
Jerrod Carmichael, announced that he would no longer be a part of the series.
Many fans are shocked and disappointed at the news, but Jerrod had different
emotions, saying that he was happy to have accomplished a goal he’s had since
13. The 30-year-old said that he will move on to make other things that he
loves.
The Carmichael Show has always been praised for its
ability to incorporate social and political issues into a sitcom. Viewers could
laugh hysterically and still walk away with a message. With the slogan, “We’re
ready to talk about it when you are,” the writers shied away from no topic. Presidential
elections, rape, mass shootings, and the N-word are just a few of the
controversial subjects fearlessly tackled and executed by actors, David Alan
Greer, Loretta Devine, Amber West, and Lil Rel Howery. With the show coming to
an end, what other comedy will cleverly cover current events? 20th
century Fox TV Presidents Jonnie Davis and Howard Kurtzman left the press with
a statement.
“The show was special and we will miss it.”
We salute
Jerrod Carmichael for 3 seasons of bold television!
