Disney Has Found Its Aladdin

Disney never fails to impress its fans when it comes to the creation of new characters and its widely admired movies, but they truly start to turn heads when they take an old classic and transform it into a live-action masterpiece. The old classic in which they have decided to remaster is the 1992 Aladdin, and the cast will be one to remember. Disney struggled intensely for several weeks in finding an Aladdin, that fans and Disney lovers took to Twitter to help find their diamond in the rough. Many tweeters recommended Nickelodeon's Avan Jogia, who many may remember for his role in the comedy hit-series Victorious. However, as Disney always does, they pulled through in the end. With Aladdin being played by a young actor named Mena Massoud, he will also be accompanied by Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and our Men in Black favorite, Will Smith, as the genie. It's going to be absolutely riveting to see Smith take on the task of out-doing our beloved and late Robin Williams. True, die-hard fans argue to say that there can and will only ever be one Genie.

When taking a look deeper into what's to come from this live-action remake, its safe to say the movie will have to really knock it out the desert in order to beat the original film. The original Aladdin released in 1992 and was deemed the most successful film of the year. It received over $217 million in revenue within the United States and over $504 million across the world. The film received so much praise, especially for its soundtrack, that they went onto produce two more sequels: The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves. Even though the sequels went straight to video, the original film was still gaining more and more success through its toys, video games, merchandise, and even a 2014 Broadway adaption.  I guess even Jafar deserves some camera time on the magic carpet for his performance in the film.

Unfortunately for all of our Disney fanatics, the only thing we know about this new Aladdin is who will play the three main parts. It is going to be quite some time until we hear more. But based off of how well their more recent live-action movies performed, such as The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, it is safe to say that Disney is prepared to open our eyes to a whole new world. As we wait to see what's in store for this remake, we can all take time to refresh our memories and re-watch the beloved classic that everyone longed for. We are all consciously looking forward to the lighted 'Arabian nights', dusting off our lamps, and waiting for the magic that changed the course of time for our cherished star-crossed lovers.
