The Mighty Merousos' and Their Battle Against Cancer

No one ever wants to go through a fight on their own, especially when it involves fighting for your life. Fortunately, two very strong and special women didn't have to fight on their own. Maria Menousos, 39, along with her mother, Litsa Menousos, have both been faced with the relentless, more or less, encounter with cancer. Maria Menousos made a statement that she will be stepping down from E! News due to her recent diagnosis of a brain tumor. Menousos discovered this growth while taking care of her mother, who has stage 4 brain cancer.

"I'd been getting lightheaded on set and having headaches," said Menousos. "My speech has gotten slurred and I was having difficulty reading the teleprompter."

When she received news of her tumor, she explained that she didn't cry; she laughed. She found it "so surreal and crazy and unbelievable" that not only her mom had a brain tumor, but her as well. However, by happy chance, Menousos' tumor was found benign and was removed through surgery on her 39th birthday with a six to seven percent chance of ever returning. It's enough that she has to take care of her mother and support her through this battle with something so horrid; she shouldn't have to put her fists up too.

But as the prima donna Christina Aguilera once said, "Cause it makes me that much stronger, makes me work a little bit harder, it makes me that much wiser, so thanks for making me a fighter", and this calvary will only do just that for the Menousos women.
