Getting Back to the Music
Timbaland revealed his battle with drug addiction and depression and how a near-death overdose put him back on track to take back his life.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the super producer shared how he became addicted to OxyContin and how it almost took his life. "I felt like I was underwater, I could not breathe," he said.
"All I can tell you is that there was a light. I woke up trying to catch my breath, like I was underwater. But through that whole thing I saw life," he told Rolling Stone. "I saw where I would be if I don't change, and where I could be if I did... I didn't want to be old and taking these pills."
The near-fatal overdose is exactly what Timbaland needed to get his life on track. In his progress he gradually cut down his pill intake, eventually cutting them out altogether. He still smokes weed, and drinks alcohol, but hey, that's the lifestyle when you are making hits with artists like Rick Ross and Ski Mask the Slump God.
Now that Timbaland is getting his mind right, only way to go is back to the top of the charts.
