Dwayne Johnson is Stuck Between “The Rock” and a “Die Hard” Place
It’s only two months into the new year and Dwayne Johnson, The Rock, has found his role in yet another movie. The trailer of the new movie,“Skyscraper,” premiered during the Super Bowl and it’s causing people to have déjà vu. The plot for this movie is that a former FBI agent, framed and on the run, must save his family from a blazing fire in the world's tallest building. Sound familiar? Although many of his fans might have been thrilled for another movie of him playing the “tough guy,” it seems all too familiar for everyone else who watched the trailer and the movie “Die Hard.” Many people went to Twitter to call this movie a remake of the 1988 movie “Die Hard.”
“Die Hard” is about a tough New York cop who found himself in a tight situation when a burning office building in Los Angeles is taken over by terrorists. The cop, John McClane, took matters into his own hands in order to save his wife, kids, and other hostages. “Skyscraper” is about a former FBI agent who is assessing security for the world’s tallest building in China. As the building goes up in flames, he is framed for the crime. While dealing with all of this with a prosthetic leg, he still has to save his family and clear his name. It is claimed to be an “original idea” by writer/director Rawson Marshall Thurber; however, its originality seems long gone. The first impressions of this movie was that it was a reboot of Die Hard, but with one leg. The movie is set for release in the summer. What are your thoughts?
