Gucci is Way Over its Head

Meanwhile, in Milan, Gucci swapped out handbags for severed heads at the Milan Fashion Show! The brand released its Fall/Winter 2018-2019 collection, produced under the direction of Alessandro Michele. Models strutted their stuff(and heads) down the runway in glittery, mismatched ensembles with an eccentric look. The heads reportedly took six months to create and were made using molds from the models' heads, according to Vogue. They were designed by techno-artisans in a factory in Rome.

The Gucci runway took place in what looked like an operating room. Gucci went to Twitter to explain the concept of the operating room as a reflection of the work of a designer—the act of cutting, splicing and reconstructing materials and fabrics to create a new personality and identity with them. Alessandro Michele’s show was a celebration of his style, as well as the new wave in Fashion. Michele hit the nerve of our generation and is responsible for Gucci’s comeback over the past three years. This latest show might have hit the nerve a little too hard, as people went to Twitter freaked out by this Gucci Horror Story.
