Justin Timberlake Speaks on Prince Problem

So they did have beef. JT tried to clear up rumors of a friction between him and legend Prince,

who he honored during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Timberlake went on The Tonight Show live following his post-Super Bowl performance and

revealed that Questlove, a friend of Prince, gave the thumbs-up for including Prince’s purple

projected image during the performance.

Prince fans have not been shy about expressing their dark disapproval given the pair’s past. The lyrical feud reportedly began in 2006 when Prince claimed “sexy never left” in reference to JT’s hit SexyBack. During “Give It to Me,” Timberlake responded, “…Now if se-sexy never left, then why is everybody on my sh-? Don’t hate on me just because you didn’t come up with it.”

JT also mocked Prince’s 5’3” height while accepting a Golden Globe on his behalf in 2007. The Suit and Tie singer put the wrapped up his Tonight Show segment with words of admiration for The Purple One, referring to him as the G.O.A.T. of musicians.
