The Guy with the Fro is Back

In the words of the great Oscar Gamble, “They don’t think it be like it is but it do.”

Everyone knows Colin Kaepernick, former 49ers quarterback, mostly because he kneeled during the national anthem. Now everyone will know him because he achieved his biggest accomplishment since leaving the NFL. On Wednesday, Kaepernick completed the pledge he made in Fall 2016 to donate $1 million to organizations working in oppressed communities.

Kaepernick left behind the 1st and 10 and created his very own #10for10: a project that gathered influential artists and athletes like Snoop Dogg, Kevin Durant, T.I., and Serena Williams to support his cause. Each major celeb got to spotlight an organization close to their heart by donating $10,000 Kaepernick matched each donation with another $10,000. So if you’re not so great at math, that’s $2K for each organization. On the brink of changing the world, he has accepted world changing awards including 2017 Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award and GQ’s Citizen of the Year. “Without or without the NFL’s platform, I will continue to work for the people because my platform is the people.” NFL, can you hear Kaepernick now?
