One of the newest faces of gun violence is a young, passionate, cut-throat highscholer from Parkland, Florida and she’s not taking ‘no’ for an answer. Emma Gonzalez is the young lady with the buzz cut flooding your timelines since the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. Since the terrible shooting she and a few other young girls have started the #MarchForOurLives revolution.The March for Our Lives event is a direct response to the Parkland shooting, which inspired Gonzalez and other student survivors to launch a movement in hopes of convincing lawmakers to address the issue of gun violence and, in particular, school shootings.

The outspoken high schooler recently delivered a speech at the #MarchForOurLives event in Washington this past Saturday. Emma’s powerful speech reflected her late classmates and friends who lost their lives in the school shooting followed by a powerful moment of silence. The total time of her speech was 6 minutes and 30 seconds,  the same amount of time that she had to hide for her life during the school shooting. Emma is here to help the government and her community understand the pain that she and others had to endure for the change that she’s tired of waiting on.
