Brunei implements stoning to death under anti-LGBT laws

Are we sure we’re in 2019? Homosexuality has always been illegal in Brunei but today the tiny South-east Asian country introduced strict new Islamic laws. Brunei’s sultan new penal code is very inhuman. It imposes death by stoning for extramarital sex, anal sex, and abortion; amputation of limbs for stealing; and 100 lashes with a whip for lesbian sex. Even for children who reached puberty.

A few celebrities such as Elton John, George Clooney, and Ellen DeGeneres have started to boycott against the anti-gay discrimination and bigotry taking place in the country of Brunei. Their strong stance includes boycotting hotels owned by the sultan of Brunei. This list includes, Hotel Bel-Air, The Beverly Hills Hotel, The Dorchester, and 45 Park Lane to name a few. Boycotts actually date all the way back to 2014 when the country first introduced phase one of the Sharia law. Like Ellen said, Spread the word and Rise up!
