Shade or No Shade: Barbie Vs. Belle

Things got heated last night in the Twitterverse between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift. Nicki Minaj took a stand against her MTV Video Music Awards snub by tweeting, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for video of the year. Oh But trust me, I will be on stage collecting my awards for vid of the year. Feeling Myself & Anaconda.” Was the Barbie Queen throwing shade towards T-Swizzle? No names were mentioned in this tweet, but Taylor came back with a response by tweeting, “@NICKIMINAJ i’ve done nothing but love & support you. It’s unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot.” Sips tea.

The exchange of words between the two superstars caused an uproar on Twitter. Both fan bases were tweeting their thoughts about the situation. Even celebrities got involved. Well, in Kim Kardashian West's case, it was an accident! While the Twitter feud was taking place, Kim happened to post a meme that seemed directed towards the VMA’s controversy. She quickly explained that she had no idea what was going on in the music world, and was just posting pics from her Vogue photoshoot.

Taylor Swift may have thought there was going to be some bad blood between her and Nicki. But the Anaconda rapper further explained the point she was trying to make in response to Taylor’s sassy remarks. She first tweeted, “Huh? U must not be reading my tweets . Didn’t say a word about u. I love you just as much. But u should speak on this @TaylorSwift13.” She continued to explain that it was directed towards her feelings about white media and their tactics. She feels like black women have had a major influence on pop culture, but do not get enough recognition.

The feud finally came to a close after Taylor Swift tweeted, “@NICKIMINAJ If I win, please come up with me!! You’re invited to any stage I’m ever on.” The 2015 Video Music Awards will be held on August 30. Don’t forget to tune in to find out how everything plays out!
