Janice Dickinson Battles More Than Breast Cancer

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson announces that she has breast cancer.

The 61-year-old revealed the news in an interview with the Daily Mail. Dickinson was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) on March 12. DCIS is the most common type of non-invasive breast cancer. It is not seen as life threatening but it can increase the chance of developing invasive breast cancer, according to Breastcancer.org.

"When the doctor found the lump, it hurt," Dickinson said. "When the doctor touched this little lump in my right breast, about the size of a pea, and I went 'bingo, I have cancer.' "

Fortunately, Dickinson has her fiancé Dr. Robert Gerner and her two children, Nathan and Savannah, by her side through this difficult time. Dickinson told the Daily Mail she is determined to fight her cancer and hopes to use her experience to inspire others while staying strong through it all.

"Don't feel sorry for me, this is not a pity party," she concluded. "I'm Janice Dickinson and I'm going to stick around for a long, long time, you ain't getting rid of me yet."

But this isn’t the only battle the model and reality star has been facing.

A Los Angeles judge is considering to dismiss her lawsuit against Bill Cosby that she filed last year. Cosby’s lawyers are seeking dismissal of the case after the comedian’s then-lawyer denied her allegations that Cosby drugged and raped her.

Dickinson went public with her story in 2014 saying that she was drugged and raped by Bill Cosby in a Lake Tahoe Hotel room in 1982.

“There's no way to put into words the depth of the misery, pain and humiliation that I and the other women and all women and men that have gone through unconsented, non-consensual drugs and rape," Dickinson said.
